Spain Urges De-escalation, Rejects Military Option in Israel-Iran War

(MENAFN) Spain’s Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares has rejected the idea of a military solution to the ongoing tensions in the Middle East, following renewed escalation between Iran and Israel.

In a post on the US social media platform X, Albares said he condemns “the breakdown of the ceasefire between Israel and Iran,” warning that “resorting once again to violence will only bring more suffering.”

He stressed the importance of diplomacy and dialogue to restore peace and stability in the region, calling for immediate efforts to reduce tensions. “There is no military solution in the Middle East,” he added.

Albares also urged all parties across Israel, Palestine, and Lebanon to respect existing ceasefires.

The remarks come after a sharp escalation late Sunday, when Iran launched missiles toward northern Israel in the first such attack since a fragile ceasefire established in early April, following Israeli strikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut.
